How I started a business & decided to go to college. This is also an attempt to start to give helpful information on how to do something.

I alluded to how I may share with you all how I started a business.

I never knew how start a business or go to college. So one day I just did both.

I attended college first. Then started businesses after college.

Starting college was not that hard. I was a shit student in elementary, junior high and high school. I didn’t want to go to college. On the last day of high school all of us sat in an assembly and watched a slide show of our faces and text which said where we were going to university. I was one of the few which said we planned to work. I finished my last two years of high school at a private religious school. My class mates were going to large state and private universities. A few were headed to the Ivies. One dude who received a mustang 5.0 convertible for graduation was going to attend Pepperdine University in California. Pepperdine is on the beach. He dropped out in a year.

I attended St. Louis Community College. I was going to be a graphic designer. The first second of my first class I immediately hated graphic design. The class was lettering and layout which is the very first class you have to take to start a degree in graphic design. Well you have to take a bunch of other classes along with that class but I only took one to start. Lettering and layout was done back then on translucent paper with special markers in various grey hues to build up layers for the graphics and markers for the layout and letters. There were special rulers to measure stuff called picas and such. I hated it. I hated the instructor. He was a uptight corporate guy. The authority figure type I always rebelled against.

I finished the class and switched majors. I became a fine arts major.

I was working full time as a non-union construction laborer and going to college full time at night. I can appreciate manual labor but the non-union pay was low. The wealthy guy I worked for said he was paying me good money. I can assure you the money was not good but I had bills to pay. Side note on the rich guy. He is the brother of a dude who owned a Major League Baseball team. They both either were or are still owners of a family engineering business located at a major airport. This business is known for inventing a way to straighten unibody car frames among other things. The families money came from the great grandfather who invented a wet cell car battery. His wife’s family owned a very prominent building in a city. The brother also owned a large bank. All of what I said may or not be completely accurate but the one thing that is was that they are old fucking money rich.

Anyway I went to art school.

The first mistake I will admit to about starting a business is not asking questions to the wealthy guy on how to start a business or how to fund it. Or ask the construction manager how he started his construction business. And then with some of the knowledge from my conversation with these businesses owners I would know what other questions to ask or how to even start a conversation with people about starting a business and finding funding. I might never use their advice but it would give me a start to wonder how or what to do or ask etc.

also would have been a good time to ask these two businessman if they had any recommendations of who I should talk to or what questions would they ask if they were in my position.

More later.

Ps. I’m still rambling on this blog and eventually I will figure out how this all works.
