brflux is a experimental project of brett williams studio exploring music for streaming on all major music platforms and noise sound related stickers and clothing in his brflux etsy store.

brflux is not separate from williams’ art practice but is complementary to many of his other interests.

The graffiti dumpster project is a conceptual art project.

My wife and I drive around our city and we use these drives to talk, look, think, record audio, shoot video and take photographs. These drives are part of our studio practice.

On one of these drives a detour took our route under a underpass. The underpass has a skater built skatepark at one end and a series of industrial buildings. Many of these buildings are abandoned. Amid the row of abandoned buildings sits a blue dumpster. The building and the dumpster are covered in graffiti.

The lighting of the area where the dumpster stood made the place look like a film still. I had recently bought a Ilford Sprite 35-II plastic camera to experiment with. The lens of the camera is plastic and so is the body so you tend to get light leaks and lens aberrations in the picture. The camera was perfect for this shot. In this camera I use dubble film daily color 35mm.

Ok cool brflux but why?

Glad you asked, this project came along because of the covid bullshit. In lock down I started concentrating on audio and short videos again and I started making stickers and t-shirts as well.

I sold the stickers and shirts on etsy and put the music on bandcamp, spotifiy, apple music and other streaming services.

I started making tape loops and modifying cassette players. I began looking on ebay for stereo cassette duplicators, reel to reel recorders and fisher price pxl2000 video cameras. I fond all of them. The sellers said the items worked but were untested. LOL! I knew they were lying. The equipment sort of worked but did not function well enough to use. So, I got it all fixed.

Now I have stickers and photos of the dumpster for sale. Soon I will have cassette tapes ready to go. The cassettes will have the songs September1carTest and untitled song on side A. Side B will have bleepsAndHarshNoise and untitled song. Both of the untitled songs will be exclusive to the cassette tape. September1carTest and bleepsAndHarshNoise can also streamed from this website or on all major streaming services.

Stay tuned.
